A new medical-wellness practice has opened on U.S. Highway 17 in Fleming Island, combining weight-loss plans, IV therapy and cosmetic treatments under one roof.

Michelle Smith, an advanced registered nurse practitioner, launched Glow Wellness and Rejuvenation in Suite 101 at Salon Lofts, 4465 U.S. Highway 17. Smith previously worked as an orthopedic surgeon's assistant, where she gave injections before branching out on her own, Clay Today reported Sept. 23.

Wellness and aesthetics services under one roof

The practice straddles two worlds. Smith offers weight-loss plans, IV therapy, vitamin injections and sick-visit telehealth calls on the wellness side. On the aesthetics side, the menu includes Botox, fillers, microneedling, facials, retinol peels, Korean lash lifts and tints, waxing and skin-care consulting.

Natural treatments and personalized weight-loss plans

Smith told Clay Today she prefers natural treatments.

"I do a little bit of Botox and filler, but I don't do anything too invasive," Smith said. "I mostly do wellness and all-natural stuff."

Microneedling is one treatment she highlighted. The procedure uses a pen with 12 tiny needles to create micro-injuries that stimulate the body's immune system to rebuild collagen and elastin, according to Smith.

For weight-loss patients, Smith said she reviews medical history, medications and blood work, then builds a personalized plan that includes monthly checkups.

A small team and a first business

Three staffers work alongside Smith: registered nurses Nina Montgomery and Rachel Mathews, and licensed esthetician Michelle Wells.

Smith said opening the business was new territory. She had never owned one before and leaned on friends in similar fields while learning the ropes.

"It definitely was a big step ... I've never owned a business before," Smith told Clay Today. "I had to do a lot of research, and I had a couple of friends that I could ask questions who have done similar things."
