Gaige Jackson posted a 48.42 in the 100 freestyle at St. Johns Country Day School's season opener, breaking a school record that had stood for 14 years.
The SJCDS athletics department announced the record on X on Friday, Sept. 11, calling it a 14-year-old mark. Jackson's 100 free time is listed at 50.35 on the school's athletics site, making the 48.42 nearly a two-second drop.
Jackson also won the 100 free event in the meet against Orange Park High School. Teammate Asher Hendrix took the 200 freestyle for the Spartans.
Orange Park dominated the team scoring, with the girls winning 114-54 and the boys winning 215-90, Clay Today reported. The Raiders won all but three events on the day.
