Free storytimes, STEM activities and live music headline the Clay County Library System's fall schedule at branches including Orange Park and Fleming Island.

The system, led by Director of Library Services Mary Canfield, announced the lineup the week of Sept. 7. The schedule spans children's programming, adult fitness classes, creative crafts and a therapy-dog reading program called Reading with Rover, where kids read aloud to trained dogs.

All programs are free.

Autumn Themes Run Through Programs for All Ages

The library's fall offerings lean into autumn themes. Named programs include Beaded Pumpkins tied to the America 250 celebration, Mini Autumn Pour Paintings, Autumn Mountain Wood Slices, Family Storytime: Animals in Autumn and Autumn-Themed Relay Race Comics. The library system promoted the schedule on its Facebook page, describing it as covering "all ages" with hands-on STEM and storytimes for children alongside wellness and arts programs for adults.

Jazz Concert Kicks Off Marquee Fall Events

The first marquee event is a jazz concert by the Noteworthy LIVE Band on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Green Cove Springs Library. The library system describes the free show as part of a national celebration of America's 250th birthday, highlighting jazz's roots in American history and culture.

Closer to home for Orange Park residents, the Clay County Community Band is scheduled to perform a public concert at the Orange Park Library on Saturday, Oct. 24, according to the band's public calendar. Additional details on that performance have not been released.

Five Branches Offer Varying Program Schedules

The library system operates five branches: Orange Park, Fleming Island, Green Cove Springs, Keystone Heights and Middleburg-Clay Hill. The Fleming Island Library sits at 1895 Town Center Blvd. Programs vary by branch, so residents should check the full fall calendar online or call 904-529-4745 for dates, times and locations at their nearest branch.
