The Clay County Sheriff's Office raised $10,000 for Special Olympics athletes at its first-ever golf tournament, the agency announced.

The event at Top of the Tee benefited Clay County Special Olympics, with proceeds going toward helping local athletes compete in the State Games, Action News Jax reported. Funding will also cover year-round sports training, competition expenses, uniforms, equipment and transportation.

"We're so grateful to everyone who played, sponsored, donated, and helped make this event such a success," the sheriff's office said in a statement on X.

The agency is already lining up its next fundraiser. The Clay County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) Tip-A-Cop event runs Tuesday, Oct. 27, through Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Longhorn Steakhouse in Fleming Island.

During Tip-A-Cop, CCSO members will work as wait staff, collecting tips from diners. Every dollar goes directly to Clay County Special Olympics athletes, the agency said. Patrons can also bid on silent auction items and make direct donations.
