CCUA lifts Bradley Creek Parkway boil water advisory

The Clay County Utility Authority (CCUA) has lifted a boil water advisory for Bradley Creek Parkway residents, two days after emergency repairs to the water distribution system forced a service interruption.

The precautionary advisory, posted to the CCUA website on Friday, Sept. 4, affected a portion of the parkway. A map on the CCUA page shows the affected area, though the utility did not specify how many homes or customers fell under the advisory.

CCUA retracted the advisory on Sunday, Sept. 6, according to the utility's notice page. As of Tuesday, Sept. 8, the page had been updated to reflect the retraction.

What residents should know

CCUA had said the advisory would stay in effect until the utility completed a bacteriological survey of the drinking water supply. Two consecutive days of satisfactory bacteriological samples were required before the advisory could be lifted, the utility stated in its notice.

During the interruption, CCUA recommended residents turn off all appliances that automatically draw water. Once service returned, the utility advised running taps for several minutes before use. Water may appear milky if air is present in the system, the notice stated. CCUA described that as normal.

Similar advisories in August

CCUA issued at least three similar advisories in August. A boil water advisory for Blairmore Blvd. E., issued Aug. 7, was lifted Aug. 13. Advisories for Floral Ridge Circle on Aug. 6 and Lakotna Drive on Aug. 11 were also lifted by Aug. 13. Each was lifted within two to seven days.
