Orange Park Elementary School has rescheduled its annual Fall Festival for Friday, Oct. 23, after weather concerns associated with Hurricane Isaias prompted organizers to postpone the event by two weeks.
Originally scheduled for Oct. 9, the festival was moved after forecasts indicated that storms associated with the hurricane could affect Northeast Florida, Clay Today reported.
The rescheduled event will run from 4 to 7 p.m. at the school, 1401 Plainfield Ave. in Orange Park.
Festival features games, food and family activities
Families can expect traditional carnival games, food, a silent disco, a cakewalk, inflatables, a bounce house and axe throwing.
Tickets for games and food will be sold at the gate.
The festival comes as Orange Park Elementary approaches a century of history at its Plainfield Avenue campus.
The school's historic brick building was completed in 1928 and accepted by the Clay County School Board in January 1929, according to its National Register of Historic Places nomination.
The building was listed on the National Register in 1998 in recognition of its educational and architectural significance.
Hurricane disrupted Northeast Florida schedules
Hurricane Isaias prompted schedule changes across Northeast Florida as schools and athletic programs prepared for possible severe weather.
More than a half-dozen high school football games were moved to Thursday, Oct. 8, because of the storm threat, according to News4Jax.
Isaias became the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic season as it moved through the Gulf of Mexico.
On Oct. 8, forecasters warned that the storm could reach Category 2 strength, with sustained winds of 110 mph, before weakening as it approached the northern Gulf Coast, according to Jacksonville Today.
The National Hurricane Center's forecast at the time called for landfall near the Florida-Alabama border, with heavy rain, gusty winds and possible tornadoes affecting parts of the Southeast.
The forecast contributed to precautionary schedule changes across the region, including Orange Park Elementary's decision to postpone its festival.
