2nd & Charles opened a 21,315-square-foot store at Orange Park Mall on Oct. 15, bringing new and used books, video games, movies and pop culture collectibles to the Clay County shopping center.

The store, located near Belk, also carries music, toys and home décor, according to News4Jax. Customers can sell or trade eligible used merchandise for cash or store credit.

The opening adds another major tenant as Orange Park Mall continues attracting new businesses and updating its property.

Mall reports 98% occupancy

Orange Park Mall General Manager Randy Bowman told First Coast News that the shopping center is now 98% occupied and draws approximately 40,000 visitors per week outside the holiday season.

Bowman said 54 small business owners currently operate inside the mall.

"So we have 54 small business owners in the mall currently they are our pride … I enjoy seeing them be successful," Bowman told First Coast News.

Other recent arrivals include Lavash Fusion, which opened in July, and Helene's Taste of West Africa. Hungry Bee Subs is expected to open in November, while a Thai restaurant and another bookstore are also planned, according to First Coast News.

2nd & Charles is owned by Books-A-Million, which describes itself as the second-largest book retailer in the United States. The 2nd & Charles chain operates more than 40 stores across 18 states.

The mall has also undergone improvements since Second Horizon Capital acquired the property in August 2025. The company has invested in LED lighting, interior painting and a refreshed brand identity at the approximately 950,000-square-foot shopping center.

Halloween grand opening set for Oct. 31

The store will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Clay County Chamber of Commerce on Friday, Oct. 30.

A Halloween-themed grand opening celebration will follow Saturday, Oct. 31, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the mall's official event listing.

The celebration will feature a face painter and balloon artist, with free cookies and tote bags available while supplies last.

Members of the 2nd & Charles Rewards program can enter drawings for one of five $50 gift cards or a $100 gift card.

Orange Park Mall is located at 1910 Wells Road. The new 2nd & Charles store is already open for shopping.
